Shoichi Seino solo exhibition

Date

Saturday, May 17, 2025 - Saturday, May 31, 2025

Marie Gallery will be holding a solo exhibition by Seino Shoichi from Saturday, May 17th, 2025.

You will see works from a variety of eras, including new works.

Some of the artworks you saw at this year's Art Fair Tokyo are also on display and available for purchase.

Shoichi Seino expresses the interaction between fire and materials through his sculptural works by firing earth, stone, graphite, and aluminum. Through the process of firing, materials undergo unexpected transformations—what seems to disappear is actually reborn in a new form. He focuses on the natural shape of objects, using their simplest forms to confront fire and capture their transformation. While graphite is a common material in everyday life, its encounter with fire can symbolize destruction. However, Seino reinterprets it through art, transforming it into a new substance and redefining its very meaning.

In October of this year, I am planning a solo exhibition of all new works at Gallery Kozuka in Nagoya.
